Dog & Puppy Training in Montrose – Terms & Conditions

Effective from: 24 September 2026

Being Dog provides force-free, non-punitive dog training tailored to the individual dog and family.

These Terms & Conditions apply to Being Dog's Dog and Puppy Training, Pre-Puppy (or Dog) Preparation, and Child–Dog Interaction services in and around Montrose, including individual sessions and multi-session packages..

1. Training methods

Being Dog uses force-free, non-punitive training methods. Harsh handling or the use of aversive equipment or techniques, including choke chains, prong collars and electronic shock collars, is not permitted during sessions.

Being Dog may stop or end a session if methods are used that could compromise a dog's welfare.

2. Safety and responsibility

You remain responsible for your dog during training and should follow any safety instructions given before or during a session.

Dogs should be appropriately secured where necessary, including on a lead in public areas unless otherwise agreed with your trainer.

3. Your dog's behaviour and history

Please provide accurate information about your dog's behaviour and relevant history, including any known fear, anxiety, reactivity, aggression or bite history. This helps Being Dog plan training as safely and appropriately as possible.

Please also let Being Dog know about any significant changes during the course of training.

4. Health and welfare

Please let Being Dog know if your dog is unwell, injured or otherwise not in a suitable condition to train. A session may be adapted or rearranged where appropriate.

Being Dog does not provide veterinary diagnosis or treatment and may recommend speaking with your vet where health could be affecting your dog's behaviour or ability to train.

5. Home visits

For home visits, where appropriate for safety or your dog's comfort, you may be asked to have your dog in another room, behind a suitable barrier, on a lead or otherwise safely secured when your trainer arrives. If this is needed, Being Dog will discuss the arrangements with you before the session.

6. Children attending sessions

Children are welcome to be involved where this is appropriate and safe. Anyone under 16 must be supervised by a responsible adult throughout the session.

Depending on the dog, the training being undertaken and the needs of the child, Being Dog may recommend changes to how or when a child participates.

7. Training outcomes

Every dog is an individual, and behaviour and training outcomes can be affected by many factors, including health, history, environment and opportunities to practise between sessions.

Being Dog will provide professional guidance and support but cannot guarantee a particular outcome or timeframe.

8. Payment and packages

Fees and payment arrangements will be confirmed with you. In many cases, the most appropriate ongoing support will be discussed after the first session, at which point you can decide whether you would like to continue with individual sessions or a multi-session package.

Where a multi-session package is agreed, payment is normally due once the package has been chosen, unless otherwise arranged with Being Dog.

Multi-session packages are offered at a discounted rate compared with purchasing the same sessions individually. If you decide to end a package before all sessions have been used, any refund due will be calculated after sessions already provided have been charged at the applicable individual-session rate.

This does not affect your statutory consumer rights.

9. Cancelling or rearranging a session

If you need to cancel or rearrange a session, please let Being Dog know as soon as reasonably possible.

Wherever possible, sessions will be rearranged to another suitable time. Being Dog reserves the right to charge for a session cancelled at very short notice or missed without notice, particularly where the appointment cannot reasonably be reallocated. Emergencies and exceptional circumstances will be considered individually.

If Being Dog needs to cancel or rearrange a session, another suitable appointment will be offered. If this cannot reasonably be arranged, any payment relating to that session will be refunded.

10. Your right to cancel

If your contract with Being Dog is agreed at a distance, for example by telephone, email or message, you will normally have a legal right to cancel it within 14 days of the contract being agreed.

If you ask Being Dog to begin providing services during this 14-day period, your cancellation rights may be affected. If you cancel after services have begun, you may be required to pay for services already provided in accordance with your statutory rights.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions affects your statutory consumer rights.

11. Liability

Being Dog will provide its services with reasonable care and skill.

You are responsible for managing your dog appropriately and for following safety and training guidance. Being Dog is not responsible for loss or damage that could not reasonably have been foreseen, or that results from relevant information being withheld or guidance not being followed.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so.

12. Photographs and recordings

Being Dog may occasionally wish to take photographs or recordings during training. Photographs or recordings will not be used publicly for marketing, social media, case studies or educational purposes without your permission.
